My Path to Amateur Radio

I spent the 1980’s and the early 90’s as a radio operator in the Air Force. I operated from fixed stations as well as from a couple of different aircraft as an Airborne Communications Systems Operator. After leaving the service in 1992, I embarked on a thirty-plus year career in telecommunications.

As I hit my mid-fifties, I began to yearn to be involved with radio again and earned my Technician class license in December of 2016. My General class license followed in the spring of 2018, and I finally earned my Extra class license in the spring of 2019.

I’m fully retired now and spending a lot of time on this remarkable hobby. My primary interests are hunting and activating Parks on the Air, chasing DX, and building the occasional QRP kit.

In the near future, look forward to posts detailing my latest activities and travels down the long road of Amateur Radio.
